Two BDA students presented their research works at academic conferences:

Emma De La Torre presented "Deep Learning Image Classification with Google Street View (GSV)" at the 2024 American Association of Geographers (AAG) annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Fernanda Carrillo Escarcega presented her poster "Empowering Women's Well-being: A Comprehensive Approach to Social Health Disparities" at the SDSU Sustainability Summit (April 17, 2024).

We hosted the 2022 Big Data Hackathon for San Diego on October 08 and 15. Over 200 people participated with total $13,000 award prizes.   http://bigdataforsandiego.github.io/

The SDSU Newscenter highlights one of our Class 2022 Graduates, Elizabeth Fabio, with her thesis study (analyzing U.S. immigration data by performing intervention event analysis and time series clustering).

Starting in Fall 2022 semester, the SDSU Global Campus created a new ONLINE only Big Data Analytics Program (no GRE or GMAT requirement for this online program admission). 

Our second cohort of students from the fall 2020 (22 students) are from various disciplines (Statistics, CS, Economics, Accounting, Bioengineering, Sociology, social work, and interdisciplinary studies).

Our first cohort of students from the fall 2019 are pictured. The 14 students are from various disciplines (computer science, economics, GIS, computer engineering, accounting, education, psychology, and biology/biochemistry).

Several BDA students have made significant contribution to the COVID-19 research work in the HDMA Center (Harrison Yang, Karenina Zaballa, Elisabeth Jones, Dhaha Nur, Edward Smythe). Their works are highlighted on the SDSU NewsCenter

Dr. Ming-Hsiang Tsou (Program Director of the BDA Program) received the 2020 Research Excellence Award from the College of Arts and Letters.
